About us

Built to make Nigerian classrooms un-stuck

AbSTopiq started from a simple frustration: generic AI and generic content don't match what a Nigerian student is actually taught. So we built a syllabus-grounded engine for learning, practice and AI help — and made the free version good enough to actually use.

Why "grounded" is the whole point

Most study apps either hand a student generic content that doesn't match their syllabus, or an AI chatbot that answers confidently from the whole internet — right or wrong. We built AbSTopiq around one rule: every lesson and every Sabi AI answer has to trace back to the actual syllabus before it's shown. Everything else — the subjects, the practice sets, the library — is built on top of that rule.

"Learn it. Practice it. Sabi it." isn't a slogan we picked for marketing — it's the actual order the app is built in.
Milestones

Where we've gotten to so far

Foundation

The grounding engine

Built Learn, Practice and Sabi AI on one syllabus-grounded engine, across Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, Economics and more.

Partnership

Lagos State Government

Partnered with the Lagos State Government's Education District IV to bring AbSTopiq into public schools.

Now

80+ schools

80+ schools across District IV are actively learning with AbSTopiq, alongside individual students and teachers nationwide.

Next

Deeper & wider

Richer teacher tools, more subjects, and more districts — in Lagos State and beyond.

01

Working with government, not just around it

Reaching every student in a district takes more than an app — it takes a partner willing to roll it out school by school. Our work with Lagos State's Education District IV is the model we want to repeat with more states and districts.

What we believe

A few things we won't compromise on

📖

Grounded beats generic

Every answer should trace back to the syllabus, every time — not just when it's convenient.

🆓

Free where it counts

Learning shouldn't wait behind a paywall. Practice and Sabi AI can.

📶

Built for real data budgets

Audio, low-bandwidth screens and offline-friendly practice, not a video-only app.

🏫

Teachers & schools matter too

Not an afterthought feature — a first-class part of the product.

"My students weren't failing because they were lazy. They were learning the wrong things, or the right things the wrong way. AbSTopiq fixed the 'wrong things' problem before it ever got to exam practice."

Careers

We're a small team building this properly

Most of what's on this page — the grounding engine, the district rollout, the teacher tools — was built by a small team, not a big one. If you want to help build the syllabus-grounded layer for African education, we'd like to hear from you.

🌱

Early-stage, hands-on

No open roles listed here yet — we're still small enough that it's a conversation, not a job board. Curriculum, engineering, or school partnerships: tell us what you'd bring.

We'll update this page with the real team and any open roles as they're confirmed.

02

Where we're headed

More subjects, deeper teacher tools, and more districts — in Lagos State first, then more of Nigeria. The syllabus WAEC already shares with Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia is the natural next step after that.
